Dense Textures And Percussive Noise Fill This Great And Rare Album On Ilhan Mimaroglu's Label, With Essential Early Electronic Academic "Dance Music" Composed For Choreographer Mimi Garrard's Experimental Dance Works. As You Would Expect, The Pieces Are More Rhythmically-Centered Than Typical Abstract Early Electronic Works. Arel's Mimiana II Is Made From Sine Wave Generators And Uses Microtones To Establish "An Intentionally Blurred Pitch Relation"; Mimiana III Insanely Mixes 7 Different Tempos To Match The 7 Dancers In The Piece, And Was Created Using Tape-Manipulated Buchla Synthesizer Sounds. Semegen's Arc Incorporates Microtones And Also Uses The Buchla Synth As Its Exclusive Sound Source. Arel's Works Were Created At The Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center (Legendary Home Of Vladimir Ussachevsky, Otto Luening, Milton Babbitt, Mario Davidovsky, Etc); Semegen's Piece Was Made At Bell Telephone Labs (Where Max Mathews, John R.
