1984 US Original. “One Of The Most Prominent London-Based Bands During The UK’s Mid-80s African Music Explosion, Hi-Life Were Founded By The Ghanaian Guitarist Kwabena Oduro Kwarteng In 1982, Playing A Roots Highlife Style Infused By Touches Of Zairois And Congolese Soukous. After A Few Months Of Fluctuating Line-Ups, The Personnel Stabilized In Late 1982 To Include Fellow Ghanaians Sam Ashalley Ashley (Percussion), Herman Asafo-Agyei (Bass Guitar) And Kofi Adu (Drums), Together With South African Frank Williams (Tenor Saxophone) And Liverpudlian Stu Hamer (Trumpet).
