Cole, Natalie - Natalie Natalie
Pop New - LP ST 11517 Capitol
Sealed 1976 Original. No Cut-Out-Holes Or Saw-Cuts. "From A Soul Standpoint, Cole's Second Album, Natalie, Is Among Her Strongest Releases. Those Who Like Cole As A Robust, Big-Voiced Soul Shouter Weren't Disappointed By Franklin-Influenced Offerings Like "Touch Me," "Keep Smiling," And The Funky Hit "Sophisticated Lady (She's A Different Lady)," Which Shouldn't Be Confused With The Duke Ellington Standard. But Cole Brings Jazz Overtones To The Exuberant "Mr. Melody" (Another Major Hit), And She Detours Into Torch Singing On The Ballad "Good Morning, Heartache," Which Billie Holiday Defined In 1946." - Alex Henderson, AMG... more details

Cole, Natalie - Live Live
Soul New - LP SKBL-11709 Capitol
Sealed 2LP Gatefold Original. Clean Cut Out Hole. “Regrettably, Most Of The R&B Artists Who Emerged In The '70s Never Recorded Official Live Albums -- And Bootlegs Aren't An Option In Most Cases Because Bootleggers Usually Stick To Rock And Pop. Natalie Cole Fans, However, Were Given A Pleasant Surprise When, In 1978, Capitol Provided The Double-LP Natalie Live. This Excellent Release Contains The Highlights Of Two Concerts: One At The Universal Amphitheater In Universal City, CA, (A Los Angeles Suburb) In August 1977, And The Other At The Latin Casino In Cherry Hill, NJ, (Near Philadelphia) In March 1978. Backed By Solid Bands, Cole Is Inspired And Passionate On Performances Of Gems From Inseparable ("I Can't Say No," "This Will Be," And The Title Song) And Natalie ("Sophisticated Lady") As Well As Unpredictable ("I've Got Love On My Mind," "Party Lights") And Thankful ("Our Love" And "Lovers"). Cole Also Surprises Us With A Few Covers That Weren't On Any Of Her Studio Lps, Including A Sweaty Version Of "Cry Baby" And A Totally Unexpected Performance Of The Beatles' "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds." That Psychedelic Classic Might Seem Like An Odd Choice For Cole, But The Tune Actually Works Quite Well For Her. Besides, Cole Never Claimed To Be A Soul Purist -- She Never Swore Off Rock Or Pop, And Some Of The Gems That She Performs Have Jazz Overtones (Including "Lovers" And "Mr. Melody"). One Could Nitpick About The Absence Of The Enchanting, Brazilian-Flavored "La Costa," Which Drove Quiet Storm Programmers Wild. But All Things Considered, Natalie Live Is An Exciting Document Of The Singer's Live Performances Of The Late '70s.” Alex Henderson, AMG.... more details

Cole, Natalie - Inseparable Inseparable
Soul New - LP ST 11429 Capitol
Sealed 1975 Original. Clean COH. “When Natalie Cole's Debut Album, Inseparable, Came Out In 1975, Many Fans Of Her Late Father Hoped That She Would Follow His Lead And Embrace Jazz And Pre-Rock Pop. But Inseparable Doesn't Sound Anything Like A Nat "King" Cole Session, And It Wasn't Until 1991's Unforgettable That Natalie Cole Recorded The Sort Of Project Her Father Would Have Recorded. In The 1970s, She Was Essentially An R&B Singer, And The Person She Was Compared To More Than Anyone Was Aretha Franklin. Some Reviewers Also Compared Cole To Chaka Khan, Which Made Sense Because Khan Certainly Didn't Escape Franklin's Influence Either. To Be Sure, Cole Brings A Definite Franklin Influence To This Promising Debut Album; Her Admiration For The Queen Of Soul Comes Through On The Joyous, Gospel-Drenched "This Will Be" And The Hit Ballads "I Can't Say No" And "Inseparable" As Well As Funky Album Tracks Like "Something For Nothing" And "How Come You Won't Stay Here." But As Strong As Franklin's Influence Is, Cole Never Fails To Sound Like Her Own Person. By The End Of The 1970s, It Was Clear That Cole Wasn't A Soul Purist -- And Not Surprisingly, She Picked Up A Lot Of Adult Contemporary And Quiet Storm Fans Along The Way. But Inseparable Is Among Cole's Most Soul-Oriented Albums, And It Is Also One Of Her Most Essential.” – Alex Henderson, All Music Guide... more details

Cole, Natalie - Thankful Thankful
Pop New - LP SW 11708 Capitol
Sealed 1977 Textured Cover Original. Clean Cut Out Hole. “Thankful Could Be Subtitled The Finest Hour For Natalie Cole And The Songwriting/Production Duo Of Chuck Jackson And Marvin Yancy. The Album Flows From Track To Track. It Boasts The Beautiful Number One R&B/Top Ten Pop Million-Selling Ballad "Our Love," As Well As Radio-Aired Tracks: The Rousing, Gospel-Ish "Be Thankful," " Just Can't Stay Away," The Lushly Orchestrated Torch Number "Aint Nothing Stronger Than Love," And The Smooth Tropical-Flavored "La Costa." The Driving, Dramatic-Themed "Annie Mae" Became A Steppers Favorite.” Ed Hogan, AMG... more details
