"The song subjects hardly classify Loveless as a honky-tonk angel, at least by Hank Thompson's definition. But this was the album that established Loveless as a major presence, and it includes two of her biggest singles -- "Chains," "Timber I'm Falling in Love" -- and two of her best -- "Blue Side of Town" and "Don't Toss Us Away," a duet with Rodney Crowell." 	If My Heart Had Windows Used - Vinyl - MCA-42092 1988 US stereo original; This deadwax indicates a Pinckneyville pressing. "Patty Loveless' second album didn't set the world on fire when it appeared in 1988, but it did contain a monster single in the title track written by Dallas Frazier. Loveless was a modern singer who sang in a true traditionalist twang. She had a mountain voice that was suited particularly well to the new wave in "neo-traditionalist country," and her producer/husband, Emory Gordy, Jr., knew exactly how to combine the two. A prime example is her reading of Steve Earle's "A Little Bit in Love," which walks the line between rockabilly and jump boogie. This is one of those great Connie Smith-styled strutters on which a honky tonk piano, steel guitar whining around the acoustic six-strings, and thumping upright bass work like a charm. Loveless has enough growl in her voice to not only get the tune across but make it her own. The tight and unobtrusive string arrangement, acoustic guitars, and bassline on an uplifting tune like "You Saved Me" offer Loveless everything she needs to dig in and wrench every ounce of gratitude out of the lyric. There are other notables here in Eric Kaz's "Once in a Lifetime" and Pat Bunch's swaggering "Baby's Gone Blues." In sum, this, like virtually every record Loveless has ever made, is worth owning if you can find it. 	On Down The Line Used - Vinyl - MCA-6401 1990 US original. Cover has corner crease and ring wear. "Patty Loveless entered the 1990s with On Down the Line, an excellent album that contained such major hits as "The Night's Too Long," the gutsy "Blue Memories," and the infectiously rockin' "I'm That Kind of Girl." Despite all the talk about Loveless being part of a neo-traditionalist movement in country, this isn't an album for purists -- there's plenty of pop and rock influence here, and a 33-year-old Loveless is undeniably folky on the haunting ballad "Some Morning Soon." Loveless still found herself being compared frequently to Patsy Cline, who was no stranger to pop and rock elements either. Not that Loveless excludes more hardcore country -- "I've Got to Stop Loving You (And Start Living Again)" is a honky tonk gem.
