Crazy
New Import - CATLP138
Sealed 2018 Vinyl Compilation. Willie Nelson Came To Musical Fame Relatively Late In Life, But Grabbed It And Followed It With A Successful Film Career. Nelson First Became Known In Nashville For Writing Hit Songs For Established Country Artists Such As Patsy Cline. ‘crazy’, Was Cline’s Biggest Hit In 1961 Although Her Version Is Very Different From The Original. He Was Inducted Into The Country Music Hall Of Fame In 1993 And Received Kennedy Center Honors In 1998. When He Turned 80 In Mid 2013, Four Generations Of His Family Played Together At New York City's Hard Rock Café To Raise Money For His Animal Rights And Biodiesel Ventures. His Career May Have Been Slow Starting, But Willie Nelson’s Musical Legacy Is Huge. The Tracks Here Showcase Just How Good He Was Back In The Long-Ago Pre-Fame Days.

New - LP - DLP 1157
Sealed 1982 Rarity Featuring His First Recordings Made In 1961. From The Liner Notes By Larry Trader: "Enclosed You Will Find 13 Songs That Were Recorded In 1961. These Were Willie's First Songs To Ever Be Recorded. If These Tapes Could Talk They Would Tell Of A Story That Is Unequal In Our Business, For They Have Been Through Fire That Destroyed Willie's Home, In And Out Of Suitcases, Pick-Up Trucks, Farms And Apartments. These Were Recorded At The Spur Of The Moment And You Can Feel The Freedom Of Everyone Present. So Take Off Your Shoes, Get A Cold One Or Whatever And Lay Back, Close Your Eyes And Go Back In Time With Us-For This Was 1961.

Greatest Hits (& Some That Will Be)
Used - LP - KC2 37542
1981 2LP Original Housed In A Gatefold Jacket. Features Some Previously Unreleased Tracks. Very Light Cover Wear, VG+. "Greatest Hits (& Some That Will Be) Was Released In The Fall Of 1981, Summarizing A Remarkable Seven-year Stretch Of Extraordinary Success That Began When The Iconoclastic Red Headed Stranger, Willie Nelson's First Album For Columbia, Became A Smash Hit Not Long After Its 1975 Release. From That Point On, Nelson Became An American Popular Music Icon And A Fixture At The Top Of The Country Charts, Something That Was All The More Remarkable Because He Rarely Played It Safe: He Sang Pop Standards, Jammed Like The Grateful Dead, Recorded Tributes To Heroes Like Lefty Frizzell, And Did Duet Albums With Both Mentor Ray Price And Fellow Maverick Leon Russell. It Was A Far-ranging, Unpredictable Body Of Work, With Each Individual Album Retaining Its Own Distinctive Character, And Greatest Hits Manages To Pull Off The Nifty Trick Of Making Sense Of These Records In Two Records (Now One Cd) And 20 Songs. Sequenced Like A Set List, Not According To Strict Chronological Order, The Collection Manages To Hit All The Major Singles, But Does So Judiciously, Making Sure Each Of The Records And Musical Moods Get Equal Pay. So, There Is No Overdose Of Stardust Material, And Even Album Tracks Like A Moving Version Of "Look What Thoughts Will Do" Get A Hearing. Consequently, This Greatest Hits Is Far More Than A Mere Recitation Of Familiar Items. It Is Something Much Better -- A Rounded, Full-bodied Portrait Of Willie In All Of His Idiosyncratic Spleandor, Which Is About As Much As Could Be Asked From A Hits Collection. And That's Why It's Worth Having, Not Just As An Introduction, But Just As A Splendid Listen On Its Own Terms." AMG Review Stephen Thomas Erlewine.

It Always Will Be
New - LP - 64496
Sealed 2004 2LP Gatefold. On His Latest Album, Willie Teams With A New Band (Except For Family Band Harmonicat Mickey Raphael) And Duets With Some Major Leaguers. Most Of The Time, It Always Will Be Feels Like A Willie Album Of Old. Produced By James Stroud In Nash Vegas, It's An Inspired Collection Of Fine Songs And Nelson Is In Fine Voice With The Edges Beginning To Show Just A Tiny Bit. He Wrote The Title Cut, One Of The Strongest Here. Lyrically, It's Tender Without Being Overly Sentimental, Sweet Without Being Saccharine, And Delivered With His Trademark Elegance And Grace. The Cover Of Tom Waits’ And Kathleen Brennan’s "Picture In A Frame," Puts Nelson's Stamp Firmly On It. With Raphael's Harmonica, Willie's Acoustic, And A Skeletal Band Featuring An Understated Pedal Steel, Nelson's Dignity In The Delivery Is Deeply Moving. It Always Will Be Is The Best Outing For Nelson Since “Teatro.”

Yet The Result Is A Beautiful,, Cohesive Set — Songs About Love And Reflection — In Willie's Inimitable Style. Moment Of Forever
New - LP - B0010453
Sealed 2008 2LP 180gm Original. Three Sides Of New Willie With A Side Four Ethcing. Produced By Kenny Chesny. "Even With The Inclusion Of A Duet With Kenny Chesney , You’d Never Guess That Chesney Co-Produced Willie’s Latest. To His Credit, The Country Hunk Doesn’t Try To Give Willie A Makeover. Instead, He Guides Him Through A Typically Varied But Tastier-Than-Average 21st Century Nelson Set. OK, Willie’s Take On Randy Newman’s “Louisiana” Arrives Belatedly; A Nine-Minute Jam On Dylan’s “Gotta Serve Somebody” Rambles; And Big Kenny’s Novelty Song “The Bob Song” Is A Weird Joke. But With His 75th Birthday Coming Up On April 30, A Reflective Willie Digs Into Several Affecting Songs About Mortality, Including Dave Matthews’ “Gravedigger,” That Deliver Heavy Wisdom With A Light Touch." - Boston Herald

Phases And Stages
Used - LP - SD 7291
1974 Pressing With Saw Cut & Creased Corner. Recorded At Muscle Shoals. “If Shotgun Willie Played A Bit Like A Concept Album, Phases And Stages Was A Full-Blown One, Tracing The Dissolution Of A Marriage And Devoting One Side To The Wife's Perspective, The Second To The Husband's. If Anything, Willie Overplays His Hand A Bit, Insisting On Grafting The "Phases And Stages" Theme Between Crucial Songs To The Point Of Genuine Irritation. But, Pretend That Never Happened, Erase It From Your Mind, And Phases And Stages Is Easily The Equal Of Its Remarkable Predecessor, A Wonderful Set Of Music That Resonates Deeply, As Deeply As The Words. Make No Mistake — The Deceptively Relaxed Arrangements, Including The Occasional Strings, Not Only Highlight Nelson's Clever Eclecticism, But They Also Heighten The Emotional Impact Of The Album. And This Is A Hell Of An Emotional Record, Where Even Each Side's Celebratory Honky Tonk Numbers (The Medley "Sister's Coming Home/Down At The Corner Beer Joint" And "Pick Up The Tempo," Respectively) Are Muted By Sadness. Then, There Are The Centerpieces: "Walkin'," Where The Woman Decides It's Time To Move On; "Pretend I Never Happened," Perhaps The Coldest Ending To A Relationship Ever Written; "Bloody Mary Morning," A Bleary-Eyed Morning-After Tale That Became A Standard; "It's Not Supposed To Be That Way," A Nearly Unbearably Melancholy Account Of A Love Gone Wrong; And "Heaven And Hell," A Waltz Summary Of The Relationship. Any Two Of These Would Have Formed A Strong Core For An Album, But Placed Together In A Narrative Context, Their Impact Is Even More Considerable. As A Result, This Is Not Just One Of Willie Nelson's Best Records, But One Of The Great Concept Albums Overall.” - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Pretty Paper
New - LP - JC 36189
Sealed 1980's Reissue With PC Prefix, Housed In A Non-Embossed Cover. Barcode Has A Wider White Backing With Extra Couple Of Digits. Features Willie's Unique Takes On "Jingle Bells," "Frosty The Snowman," "White Christmas" And Other Seasonal Classics. "Artists almost always release Christmas albums when they have a comfortable level of sales, and when Willie Nelson was at a popular peak during the late '70s, he chose to exploit his popularity by releasing Pretty Paper. Fortunately, the album was hardly a toss-off -- it was one of the finest country holiday records ever released. It's not just because the title track became a classic, or that his choice of material is terrific (all familiar tunes, but all great) -- it's because Nelson is a great interpreter, capable of making standards like "White Christmas" and "Silent Night" fresh and unpredictable. Few other artists are willing to put their personal stamp on these standards, and that alone is enough to make Pretty Paper a holiday record to cherish." All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Teatro
New - LP - B0037767-01
Sealed 2023 25th Anniversary Reissue On 180gm Vinyl With Custom Hype Sticker On Shrink. Produced By Daniel Lanois. "For Whatever Reason, Willie Nelson's Teatro -- Like Emmylou Harris' Wrecking Ball -- Seems To Exist In A Vacuum, Completely Set Apart From His Other Recordings. It's Untrue In Either Case, But Especially In Nelson's. A Scant Year Or So Before Teatro Was Released -- And Its Recording Sessions Filmed In An Old Movie Theater In Oxnard, California -- Nelson Issued His Most Brilliant Album Of The 1990s, Spirit. Island's Publicists Had No Idea What To Do With Spirit's Subtle, Unsentimental, Moody, And Sparsely Arranged And Performed Songs, But The Roots Of Teatro Lie Firmly Planted There On Its Opening Instrumental, "Matador." As For Teatro Itself, Harris Is Present On 11 Of The 14 Tracks. In Addition, Daniel Lanois, The Same Mercurial Talent Who Spearheaded Wrecking Ball, Produced This Set. The Mood Is Set In An Arid Space Where A Forlorn Mariachi Band Meets The Harmonica Man (Courtesy Of Mickey Raphael) On Ennio Morricone's Score For Once Upon A Time In The West. Lyrically, Nelson Is As Ambitious As He Was On Spirit, And Rhythmically He's More So, But That Doesn't Necessarily Serve Him As Well. Teatro Is A Fine Record With Its Sadness And Bitterness In "I Never Cared For You" And The Spanish Two-step Of "Darkness On The Face Of The Earth." But Lanois Is One Busy Guitar Picker Here, And It Stands At Odds With Nelson's More Spare Yet Lyrical Style. But It's A Good Tension. It Works Better On "My Own Peculiar Way," With The Percussion Floating And Evening Out The Guitars. The Touch Of Afro-cuban Rhythm In "These Lonely Nights" Is Sharp In Contrast To Nelson's Relatively Staid And Conventional Country Melody. Here Is Where Lanois Works His Magic; He Staggers An Organ, An Electric Piano, An Accordion, His Own Electric Guitar, A Trap Kit, And Hand Percussion All Around The Beat Without Anyone Playing Dead On It. Nelson's Voice Is The Only Constant, And It Draws The Listener Right To It. Nelson's Cover Of Lanois' "The Maker," With Lanois Layering Thick Slaps Of Sweet, Melodic Distorted Guitar Over Its Intro, Is Amazing. Harris And Nelson Work So Well Together -- Throughout The Album But On This Track Especially -- It's Almost A Shock They Aren't Always Together. Lyrically, Nelson Strides Out Ahead Of All His Late-'80s And Early-'90s Material, Continuing The Great Strides He Made With Spirit. Clearly, The Slump Is Over Here, And The Poetry He Spins Is Accessible, Profound, And Moving. Teatro Is A Special Album, But It's Part Two Of A Story That Began With Spirit, And Both Recordings Should Be Heard In Tandem With One Another For The Full Effect. Striking, Beautiful, And Affecting, Teatro Is A Sonic Film That Displays Its Moving Images In The Minds And Hearts Of Its Listeners." AMG - Thom Jurek.

Things To Remember
Colored Vinyl - RGM-0621
Sealed 2018 Limited Edition 2LP Red Vinyl Gatefold Collection. Includes Liner Notes By Grammy Award Winning Writer, Colin Escott. For The Series Of Sessions That Laid The Foundation For Willie Nelson’s Career And Thus Changed The Course Of Modern Country Music, These Recordings Have Been Treated Pretty Cavalierly Over The Years. But First, A Little History…Willie Nelson Was A Struggling Songwriter, Hungry For Work And Maybe Even Just Plain Hungry, When He Moved To Nashville In Late 1960 With His Wife And Kids And Met Hank Cochran, Who Was A Writer For Pamper Music. Pamper, Which Was Owned By Country Star Ray Price, Fiddle Player Hal Smith, And A Baker (!) From Pico Rivera, California Named Claude Caviness, Was The Hottest Publishing Company In Town, Thanks To Writers Like Cochran And Harlan Howard And Songs Like “Heartaches By The Number” And “I Fall To Pieces.” At First, Willie Wasn’t Going To Sign With Pamper Because Hal Smith Wouldn’t Give Willie The Draw He Needed, But Cochran Told Smith To Front Willie Fifty Bucks A Week From His Own Draw. So Willie, Determined To Reward Cochran’s Trust, Got To Work. “I Was Writing To Prove I Could Write,” He Said. “To Get The Money And Feel Like I Was Earning It.” He Would End Most Work Days With A New Song, And Then He And Cochran Would Call A Session With A-Team Musicians Who Didn’t Have Major Label Studio Work That Day. The Result: A Body Of Work That Just May Well Represent The Most Fertile Creative Period Ever To Issue From A Country Songwriter.

Tougher Than Leather
Used - LP - QC 38248
1980 US Original Housed In An Embossed Cover (Front And Back). Excellent Cover Overall, With A Few Light Crease Lines At Spine Edge. Way Cheaper Than The Rare CBS Half-Speed Master. "After Years Of Singing Standards, Putting Out Duet Albums, Starring In Movies, Appearing In Soundtracks, And Taking Other Detours, Willie Nelson Finally Returned With An Album Of (Almost) All-new Material With 1983's Tougher Than Leather, His First Collection Of Original Songs Since 1975's Red Headed Stranger. Like That Record, Tougher Than Leather Is A Concept Record, But Unlike Stranger, It's Nearly Impossible To Figure Out What The Record Is About. In All Likelihood, It's About A Gunfighter, Who May Or May Not Be A Metaphor For Willie Himself, In His Last Days, And There Are Four Songs With "Rose" In The Title, Two Parts Of "Somewhere In Texas," And A Version Of "Beer Barrel Polka" Thrown In For Good Measure. Musically, It's Right In The Vein Of Red Headed Stranger -- A Little More Robust, Since It Was Cut With His Touring Band, Which Also Leads To A Greater Variety Of Sounds, Something That Doesn't Necessarily Jibe With The Intended Intimacy Of The Songs, Even If It's Wholly Welcome After The Stilted Chips Moman Productions. The Problem With Tougher Than Leather Is That The Album Simply Doesn't Hold Together Thematically, Which Wouldn't Be A Major Problem If The Songs Were Consistently Good, But They're Often Too Minimal To Catch Hold, With Only The Revived "Summer Of Roses" (Originally On Yesterday's Wine), "Little Old Fashioned Karma," And The Elegiac "Nobody Slides, My Friend" Standing Out Among The Pack, And They're Modest In Their Success As Well. Consequently, Tougher Than Leather Winds Up Being More Admirable For What It Tries To Do Than What It Accomplishes." AMG - Stephen Thomas Erlewine.

Troublemaker
New - LP - PC 34112
Sealed 2nd Issue With "Uncloudy Day" Hype Sticker On The Shrink Wrap. "Released In Late 1976, At The Height Of Willie Mania, The Troublemaker Is Willie Nelson's First All-Gospel Album, But Country Gospel In His Hands Doesn't Sound Like Traditional Country Gospel -- It's A Willie Album, Through And Through, Performed With The Freewheeling Family As Support. Consequently, It's Every Bit As Wonderfully Idiosyncratic As Any Of His Other Mid-'70s Work And, In Some Ways, Even More So, Because Inspirational Songs And Religious Material Are Usually Not Given Arrangements As Imaginative And Free-Spirited As This. Although The Album Can Be Divided Pretty Evenly Between Ballads And Rollicking Up-tempo Numbers, There Is The Inherent Jazz-Like Unpredictability In The Performances Of Nelson And His Band That Makes Even Familiar Numbers Like "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" Sound Spontaneous. Then Again, The Choice Of Material Also Helps, Because That Song Is The Most Familiar Here; While Many Of The Other Numbers Are Also Country Gospel Standards, They're Not Recorded Nearly As Often As "Circle" And These Song Choices Also Give The Troublemaker A Unique, Fresh Feel. Another Interesting Thing About The Album Is That The Music, Not The Message, Is At The Forefront, Which Is Why It Doesn't Sound Separate From His Other Mid-'70s Peaks. Although It Is Overshadowed By Them Both, The Sublime Subtlety Of The Performances On The Troublemaker Make It Sound Of A Piece With The Red Headed Stranger And Stardust. It May Not Be Nearly As Popular As Either, But Musically, It's Just As Satisfying And Is One Of The Quiet Highlights In Willie's Vast Catalog." Stephen Thomas Erlewine, AMG.

Yesterday's Wine
New - LP - LSP 4568
Sealed 1971 Original. Slight Discoloration Under The Breathe Holes In The Shrinkwrap And On The Corners Where The Shrink Has Torn. “By The Time Willie Nelson Released Shotgun Willie In 1973, He Had Already Established Himself As A Nashville Songwriter Of The First Order, Having Penned Timeless Material Like "Crazy" And "Night Life" For Other Artists. It Was Shotgun Willie, However, That Established Nelson As A Quality Album Artist As Well. Phases And Stages (1974) And Red Headed Stranger (1975) Followed, Exploring Their Chosen Themes Over The Course Of Records That Played Like Unified Song Suites. Though These Albums Are Often Held As The Finest Examples Of Nelson's Album Craft, Yesterday's Wine, Their 1971 Predecessor, Had Long Been Neglected. A Series Of Meditations On God, Love, And Aging, These Songs Are Fragmented Reflections On The Life Of Nelson's "Imperfect Man" As He Approaches Death. Though The Story Isn't As Tightly Constructed As That Of Red Headed Stranger, This Fact Lends Yesterday's Wine A Feeling Of Malleability That Adds To Its Power. At The Album's Heart Are "Summer Of Roses," "December Day," And The Title Track — Songs That Detail A Sense Of Longing And Loss With The Changing Seasons Mirroring The Narrator's Own Life. Throughout, The Outlaw Subtext Nelson Would Become Associated With A Few Years Later Is Replaced By An Underlying Religious Faith. While There May Not Be Any Songs Here Of The Same Caliber As "Whiskey River" (Shotgun Willie) Or "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" (Red Headed Stranger), Many Of The Numbers Stand On Their Own, Outside The Album Context. "Family Bible," "Me And Paul," And The Title Track Are All Particularly Fine Examples Of Nelson's Songcraft. As A Whole, Yesterday's Wine Provides Further Insight Into The Development Of His Art During This Prolific Period.” – Nathan Bush, All Music Guide

You Don't Know Me: The Songs Of Cindy Walker
New - LP - B0006079
Factory Sealed 180gm Gatefold. "Wth The Possible Exception Of 2004's It Always Will Be, You Don't Know Me Is Willie's Purest Country Album In Many A Moon, And It's Designed That Way: It's A Tribute To A Songwriter Who Was One Of The Leading Lights In Western Swing At Its Peak. Cindy Walker's Name May Not Be Known To Anybody Outside Of Aficionados, But Many Of Her Songs Became Standards, Including "Bubbles In My Beer," "Take Me In Your Arms," "You Don't Know Me," "Sugar Moon," "Cherokee Maiden," "Miss Molly," And "It's All Your Fault." Many Of These Tunes Were Popularized By Bob Wills, The King Of Western Swing, Whose Influence On Nelson Was Profound — Indeed, He's Covered Wills Before, Including "Bubbles In My Beer," Which Appeared On Shotgun Willie, And Is Revived Here, Along With All The Previously Mentioned Tunes."-AMG
