Seether’s eighth studio album, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum, was released on August 28, 2020, marking a significant entry in the band’s discography. The title translates from Latin as “If You Want Peace, Prepare for War,” encapsulating the album’s themes of unrest and introspection. Produced by lead vocalist Shaun Morgan, the album was recorded in Nashville in late 2019, before the onset of the global pandemic. Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum showcases a darker and more melodic sound than some of Seether’s previous works, reflecting influences from the post-grunge and alternative metal scenes of the late 90s. The album’s lead single, “Dangerous,” set the tone with its brooding atmosphere and sharp lyrical content, resonating with both longtime fans and new listeners. The release of Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum came during a period of social uncertainty, lending further gravity to its introspective and critical lyrics. Its production stands out for a raw yet polished approach, with Morgan’s songwriting delving into themes of conflict, internal struggle, and resilience. The album also marks the first appearance of guitarist Corey Lowery as a full member of the band, adding new layers to Seether’s sound. Critics highlighted the cohesive nature of the tracklist and the band’s ability to blend heavy riffs with melodic hooks, cementing the album as a testament to Seether’s evolving artistry and enduring relevance in the rock landscape. more
