For The People In The Last Hard Town
New - LP - SRM-1-687
Sealed 1973 Original.
"For The People In The Last Hard Town" is a studio album by American country music singer-songwriter Tom T. Hall, released in 1973. The album was recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville and was produced by Jerry Kennedy.
Tom T. Hall had already established himself as a successful country music artist with hits like "Harper Valley PTA" and "A Week In A Country Jail" before releasing "For The People In The Last Hard Town." The album features Hall's signature storytelling style, with songs that paint vivid pictures of life in small towns and rural areas.
The title track, "For The People In The Last Hard Town," is a tribute to the people of Harlan County, Kentucky, who were involved in a bitter labor dispute with the mining company. The song became a rallying cry for the striking miners and was later included in the documentary film "Harlan County U.S.A."
Other notable tracks on the album include "Second Handed Flowers," "The Little Lady Preacher," and "I Love," which features Hall's wife, Dixie, on backing vocals.
